Usual adult dose
A very strong steroid. Apply a thin layer once or twice a day for no more than 2 weeks, and use no more than 50 g in a week. Do not use on the face.
Your doctor may give you a different dose. Children's doses depend on weight.
Side effects
Common
- mild burning or itching
- thinning of the skin
- stretch marks
- acne-like spots
Serious — get help
Stop taking it and see a doctor straight away if you notice:
- spreading skin infection
- severe allergic reaction
Do not take it, or take care, if
- Untreated skin infections (fungal, bacterial or viral)
- Acne or rosacea
- Face, groin or under nappies
- Children under 12 (only if a doctor says so)
- Large areas of skin or long-term use
